Allergies

An allergy is an inappropriate response by the body’s immune system to a substance that is not normally harmful. The immune system helps us to fight off infection by identifying foreign invaders and mobilizing the body’s white blood cells to fight them. In some people, the immune system wrongly identifies a nontoxic substance as an invader, and the white blood cells overreact, creating more of a problem that the invader. Thus, the allergic response becomes a disease itself.Almost any substance can provoke an allergic reaction in someone, but the most common allergens are pollen, dust, certain metals, some cosmetics, lanolin, dust mites, animal hair, insect venom, many common drugs, food additives, animal dander, and chemicals found in soap, washing powder, cleaning supplies, and many other chemicals. Many people are allergic to mold. Molds are microscopic living organisms, neither animal nor insect, that thrive where no other life form can. They flourish in the air, in soil, on dead leaves, and other organic material. Mold spores are carried by the wind and predominate in the summer and early fall. Foods can also provoke allergic responses. Some of the most common allergenic foods in adults are shrimp, lobster, crab, strawberries, chocolate, shellfish, peanuts, walnuts, and other tree nuts, fish, and eggs. In children, eggs, milk, peanuts, soy, and wheat are the main culprits. Children typically outgrow allergies, where adults do not. This is because the causative factor in adults tends to be from more of a toxic build up (autointoxication), and until that is addressed, symptoms tend to worsen.

When allergies appear in adults it is usually a sign that the body is being overwhelmed by toxic substances. The immune system can be likened to a kitchen garbage can; you can keep throwing things into the garbage can with no ill effects. But once the garbage can is full, whatever you throw into it will spill out onto the floor – this is the “reaction”. Clean out the garbage can and the spillage will stop! By the same token, once you clean out your toxic garbage, your allergic reactions will stop.

Much of the time allergies can be traced back to life-style factors. If one parent has allergies, it is statistically likely that one in three of their children will have allergies. If both parents have allergies, the chance that their children will have allergies rises to seven in ten. Babies that are not breast-fed are more likely to develop allergies, because they lack the natural immune enhancers found in breast milk.

Food Allergy Self-TestIf you suspect that you are allergic to a certain food, a simple test can help you determine if you are correct. By recording your pulse rate after consuming the food in question, you can reveal is you are having an allergic reaction.Using a watch with a second hand, sit down and relax for a few minutes. Once relaxed, take your pulse at the wrist. Count the number of beats in a 15 second period and multiply by 4. Normal pulse rates, by age, are as follows:

After taking your pulse, consume the food you are testing for an allergic reaction. Wait twenty minutes and take your pulse again. If your pulse rate has increased more than 10 beats per minute, omit this food from your diet for one month, and then retest yourself.

Overcoming AllergiesThe greater number of allergies, the higher the likelihood the cause is autointoxication. The good news is your allergies can in fact be overcome simply by “cleaning out your garbage can!” This is accomplished by a temporary diet restriction, nutritional supplementation, and cleansing the liver and digestive tract.Cleansing is easily done through specific supplements and colonic hydrotherapy. Colonics quickly and easily rebalance the intestinal flora, and help to rid the body of the agents responsible for the allergic response. Colonics are similar to enemas, but far more effective and nowhere near as uncomfortable. (The thought of it is much worse than the actual therapy itself.)
